Ethiopian Community Empowerment Center (ECEC) is a nonprofit organization that operates exclusively for educational and charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. ECEC was established in 2023 in the state of Maryland to create a center where individuals of Ethiopian descent, other Africans, and partners of the community can gather to share information, resources, ideas, and provide services to community members. ECEC aims to promote the well-being, empowerment, self-sufficiency, and social interaction of community members while fostering cultural understanding, appreciation of Ethiopian culture, language, and history, and respect for cultural diversity.
Qualified volunteer tutors provide one-on-one tutoring and conduct group study sessions in various subjects including Math, English, and Science for Ethiopian immigrant students. The goal of the program is to provide academic support and guidance to students to help them fully integrate into and thrive in U.S. schools.
RegisterWe are committed to uplifting the Ethiopian and African diaspora by creating opportunities for learning, cultural pride, and social connection.
Through education programs, health initiatives, and community services, we empower individuals to thrive in every aspect of life.
Our center is a hub where heritage meets progress—preserving traditions while building a stronger future together.
We officially launched ECEC with a vibrant inaugural event that united the Ethiopian community to celebrate culture, share ideas, and set our collective vision.
Through our community vision screening program, members received free eye exams and vital healthcare resources, ensuring better access to wellness.
In partnership with Luminus Network for New Americans, we hosted an empowering session to help community members understand their rights and available legal protections.
At ECEC, we believe in creating real impact through education, cultural preservation, and community support. Since our founding, we’ve worked tirelessly to help families access resources, gain skills, and celebrate heritage. Together, we are building a stronger, more connected Ethiopian community for future generations.
